USA-S |
USA Swimming (USA-S) was established by Congress as the National Governing Body for competitive swimming in the United States. USA-S is a federation member of the international governing body of swimming, the Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA). |
The LSC |
Middle Atlantic Swimming is an administrative arm of USA Swimming -- called a Local Swimming Committee (LSC) -- which supervises competitive swimming within established geographic boundaries. There are 59 LSCs in the United States. |
Boundaries |
The Middle Atlantic LSC includes New Jersey, south of Mercer and Monmouth Counties; Delaware; and Pennsylvania east of and including Potter, Clinton, Centre, Huntingdon, and Bedford Counties. |
Eastern Zone |
Middle Atlantic Swimming is part of the Eastern Zone of the US, which includes 11 other LSCs: Allegheny Mt. (Eastern PA); Niagara, Adirondack, and Metropolitan (NY); Maryland; Virginia; Potomac Valley; New Jersey; Connecticut; New England; and Maine. All four Zones (Eastern, Southern, Central, and Western) conduct All Star competitions and Sectional Meets for teams within their Zone. [ZONE MAP] |
Core Values |
Middle Atlantic Swimming endorses five core values:
|
Our Mission |
Middle Atlantic Swimming advocates the growth and development of a diverse swimming community through education, innovation and a commitment to excellence. |
Governance |
The LSC is governed by the House of Delegates, which includes representatives from each Club; the Board of Directors; appointed Committee Chairs; and At-Large members. Board Meetings are held at the LSC office in Wilmington, DE. House meetings are held usually at the Upper Main Line YMCA in Berwyn, PA -- and are open to all members of USS. |

The short course All Star meet is the top age group meet
of the short course season. Outstanding swimmers from all over the east
coast will compete for top honors. It is a great privilege to be
selected to represent Middle Atlantic at this meet. Everyone who has
done so in the past has had a great time.
MA may enter two swimmers in each event with a maximum of 6 events per swimmer. Swimmers who have competed in an individual event at Senior Nationals are NOT eligible for the Zone Team. Any swimmer who has achieved a Senior National time in an individual event may not swim that event at the zone meet, unless the swimmer is 12 years old or under. Applications for the selection for the Zone All Star Team will be available at MA meets during the short course season and are also available in the Forms Depot of the website. No applications will be accepted after the deadline. Applications should be mailed to the Middle Atlantic office. The Spring Zone selection process is one that takes cooperation and coordination from all. It begins with a data base of the results of Middle Atlantic sanctioned meets. Any swims done outside the LSC will need to be submitted by the swimmer with official proof of time which consists of a photocopy of the appropriate events from the official meet results or a computer disk of the meet results (Hy-Tek backup copy). Times must be accomplished at sanctioned, or approved meets, or observed by US Swimming in accordance with USS officiating procedures. Times will be updated throughout the season. Standings will be posted at the Elite Meet and corrections should be brought to the attention of the Zone Database Manager. Applications will be accepted until the deadline. After that time the database will consist of only those swimmers who have applied. The list will be posted at the Junior Olympic meet. High School times will be accepted if the swim is observed and results submitted one week before the start of Junior Olympics. Please note the following additional criteria for selection:

Camp Programs |
The overall goal of the camp program is to identify top swimmers at all levels and help them work toward fulfilling their potential as well as help USS achieve its national goals. |
Adapted Swimming Programs |
Swimmers with disabilities are athletes with the same
needs, desires, thoughts, emotions and goals as any other athlete. They
are entitled to compete under optimal conditions, with the best
facilities and officiating available to allow them to achieve their
highest competitive potential.
Middle Atlantic Swimming has an Adapted Swimming Committee to encourage opportunities for athletes with disabilities. Officials have guidelines for officiating swimmers with disabilities and for interpreting the rules in light of each swimmers situation. Based on the recommendations of the Adapted Swimming Committee,
travel funds may be provided to adapted athletes who
regularly participate in Middle Atlantic programs.
