This is a huge meet; 1,266 swimmers
with approximately 8,000 swims. Each of the sessions, except the
1650s, will run 4-hours.
PLEASE REVIEW THE ATTACHMENTS
CAREFULLY, especially the Meet
Information AND Warm-Up documents. These contain important
meet information and the warm up schedules. My proof reading skills
(or lack thereof) are legendary. Please let me know if you have
been omitted from the warm-ups. All of the attachments are in PDF
format. You must have ACROBAT READER (which is a free program) to
access the documents.
THERE WILL BE NO DECK ENTRIES AT THIS
MEET. Don't ask. The meet will run non-stop and there are always
enough problems without adding the additional effort associated with
deck entries.
I will not correct coaches mistakes,
omissions, or parents' failure to submit entries. Tales of woe and
administrative inadequacy are not acceptable excuses. It is your
responsibility to deal with your parents if you or your entries
chairperson entered an incorrect event or time, or omitted a swimmer
from the meet or an event or entered someone in the wrong
session. I have already declined numerous late entries and requests
for deck entries. I must be fair and consistent to all in order for
this meet to function efficiently.
ALSO INCLUDED AS ATTACHMENTS ARE THE
SESSION
TIMELINES AND PSYCH SHEETS FOR
Senior and
Age Group
DECK SEEDED EVENTS.
The 2-IMs and 2-FREEs for 11/12, 13/14
and Senior swimmers are now deck seeded events in addition to 1650s,
5-FREEs and 4-IMs in order to conserve time and assure compliance
with the 4-hour rule. All 9/10 events remain preseeded events as
deck seeding for these swimmers would cause confusion and waste more
time than it would save. Please assure your swimmers are
checked-in as soon as possible. Several of the deck seeded events
have entries of more than 130-swimmers. It would be appreciated if
coaches would handle check-ins for their swimmers to the greatest
extent possible to avoid confusion and long lines at the swimmer
check-in tables. Swimmers will be
penalized in accordance with MALSC rules if they check-in and don't
swim in a deck seeded event, so advise your swimmers and coaches to
be accurate and careful with check-ins. See above concerning tales
of woe and administrative inadequacy.
It seems that I can never say enough
about scoreboards the accuracy of swimmers' times, so I'll summarize
it all again as follows:
THE TIME THAT APPEARS ON THE SCOREBOARD MAY NOT ALWAYS REFLECT THE ACTUAL TIME ACHEIVED BY THE SWIMMER. SWIMMERS MAY NOT STRIKE THE TOUCHPAD WITH SUFFICIENT FORCE TO STOP THE TIMING SYSTEM. THE SCORERS IDENTIFY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE TOUCHPAD, BACKUP TIME, AND WATCH TIME TO ASSURE EACH SWIMMER'S TIME IS ACCURATE. INQUIRIES CONCERNING A SWIMMER'S TIME SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE MEET DIRECTOR ONLY. A BRIEF WRITTEN SUMMARY SHOULD BE SUBMITTED THAT INCLUDES THE SWIMMER’S NAME, EVENT, HEAT, AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM. WE’LL REVIEW AND TAKE ACTION AS APPROPRIATE.
Don't approach the scoring table or the
officials if your watch doesn't agree with the scoreboard or if the
scoreboard keeps running after a swimmer finishes his/her heat.
We're aware of the problems and will take care of it. Wait until
you review the posted results and then submit a written summary if
there appears to be an inaccurate time.
Do let the officials know ASAP if a
swimmer misses his heat or swims in the wrong lane. We're always
able to address these situations successfully if we're advised
timely.
Thanks for supporting the meet. Get
back to me if you have any questions.
